Counselling FAQs
This section of my web site provides answers to a number of common questions about the services I offer and the nature of counselling in general.
Should you be unable to find an answer to your question in this section, do not hesitate to contact me who will be happy to address any questions you may have.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a confidential service within a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your concerns. You will be offered a first appointment at your convenience. At the end of this first appointment you can reflect on how counselling will help and book any further appointments and where counselling is ongoing, a contract will be made and you will be asked to sign a counselling agreement. This will outline issues of confidentiality and where you stand if you wish to make a complaint.
How soon can I get an appointment?
I offer a prompt and flexible service to suit your needs in both Bangor and Belfast.
You do not have to attend on a set weekly basis at a particular time, however, if a certain time and day suits, this can be your time.
Counselling sessions are offered at our locations in Belfast and Bangor, Northern Ireland.
What if I feel apprehensive or anxious about counselling?
Feeling apprehensive or anxious about counselling is completely normal. I acknowledge that often one of the hardest parts of counselling is getting yourself through the door. I will help you to feel at ease and her gentle approach will help you to relax and be yourself.
How much does counselling cost and what if I need to postpone a session?
Each counselling session is £45 - £55. This is paid at the end of each session unless there is prior negotiation.
In the event of a cancellation I require 48 hrs working days notice (Saturday or Sunday not regarded as working days), otherwise I reserve the right to charge the full cost of the session. Preferred payment is by cheque if possible.
